BenchANT, a data-driven database benchmarking company, has posted a misleading post about the new addition to their database performance ranking - Yugabyte.
Posted on September 30, 2025, they're promoting Yugabyte performance results in comparison to other databases, including CockroachDB. What they won't tell you is that they're benchmarking against a four-year old version of CockroachDB, v21.2.7 (released late 2021).
That's long before the recent-ish 50% performance improvement we delivered in 25.2.
So, congratulations Yugabyte for beating our four-year old results. Now maybe you'll stop bringing your customers down for 10 hours or match our resilience benchmark?
Separately, I've spoken to BenchANT about this, and their new dashboard should start putting the release date along with the release, but that won't be reflected in the post above since the results are presented as screenshots of the performance dashboard. BenchANT has been quite cooperative within the limits of what they do, though it's been a couple of months and no changes yet to the way they present their data.
